Palmetto Parkway - Finishing the job in Aiken County

Construction Scope

The I-520 Phase II of the Palmetto Parkway consists of the completion of I-520 from US Route 1 to I-20 along a new location for approximately 6.5 miles.

The project is a four lane divided interstate including three interchanges and 13 bridges. This project also includes improvements to existing roads. A connector road will be constructed from US Route 25 to I-520 to link the two facilities.

Improvements will be made to the existing intersection of US Highway 25 and Interstate 20 (Exit 5). A new eight lane bridge will be constructed to replace the existing four lane bridge, new on and off ramps will be built, and the frontage roads will be realigned to improve the functioning of the interstate interchange with Highway 25.

In addition, Highway 25 from I-20 to the 520 connector road (approximately one-half mile to the south of Interstate 20) will be widened to six lanes.

United Contractors, Inc. of Great Falls, SC was awarded the design-build contract in November 2006. United Contractors put together a highly professional team to form TEAM UNITED. The Project shall be completed in July 2009.
